After several months of planning, reading and researching online marketing, I’m finally opening the doors to the DirectEzine Newsletter.
So, what took me so long? After all, publishing an online marketing newsletter shouldn’t be a complicated process, should it? You simply write a few articles, load them in your Autoresponder and share your thoughts with people of similar interests to yours, right?
Wrong!
I’ve been doing some research on this matter analyzing marketing newsletters for a few months now and I have to tell you, I am tired! Yes, I am tired about all those “newsletters” that only send e-mail ads and promotions every single day.
Granted, we are all publishing newsletters to make money and “the money is in the list” so promotions and advertisements should be expected but I think we can all do better that just say “Dear subscriber, here’s the next best thing”. Especially the money making industry, it is starting to look like one big infomercial to me, know what I mean?
This research and reading marks the birth of the DirectEzine. I wanted to do something different than just your regular weekly promotional e-mail newsletter. I wanted to give you more than just ads in your inbox. How about a newsletter that actually offers a little content? That’s becoming rare these days, isn’t it?
So, why should you listen to me? Who am I? You probably haven’t even heard from me until you landed in this article. But something got you curious, that’s why you are reading this. While I would like to tell you I’m this big guru and master of the marketing universe… well, I’m not. I’m just a marketer trying to make a living. But when I say a marketer I really mean it. Let me explain.
For the last 10 years I’ve worked in the Direct Marketing industry. I’ve been lucky enough to learn how big companies approach and communicate with their valued customers. I’ve helped marketing managers apply Direct Mail; Database Marketing and Telemarketing strategies to sell pretty much ANYTHING you can think of. But maybe the most important thing I learned during those years was the POWER that WORDS have.
Words can make us cry or laugh; words give us happiness or make us sad. There are words we never forget. Words can bring us love or even start a war. Words can modify our feelings and thoughts and ultimately… words can make us BUY. I believe the single more important asset any marketer can have is how to use words to communicate with his prospects and customers.
It was this concept that made me moved from my regular job and start marketing online, after all, the internet provides the perfect place for marketers to communicate with words only! This is a fascinating thing to do for a living. I hope you agree.
In future issues of this DirectEzine newsletter I’ll be sharing articles and tips about what Direct Marketing and Internet Marketing really are and how you can apply them to grow your online business. The beauty of learning the basic Marketing concepts is that they work in ANY niche.
