You can do huge variety thinks of chocolate - cover pretzels and cookies in them or make your own homemade candy. For a healthy treat, try making chocolate covered strawberries. But no matter which project you choose, the most important part is learning how to melt the chocolate.
There are two ways to melt your chocolate. Traditionally, chocolate is melted in a manner which is called bain marie and involves either double boiler or a pan with a bowl on top of it. This allows the chocolate to melt without overheating or getting any water in it. The other way to melt chocolate is to use the microwave. Good quality chocolate is key for proper melting. Heat in the microwave carefully - put it in for 30 seconds - then stir and repeat if necessary. Your chocolate will be easier to melt if you cut it up into small pieces but you want them to be roughly the same size so they all melt together.
