Beetlejuice Costume – What to Expect With this Costume

August 22nd, 2010 by basicamdian

When I finally decided to dress up as Beetlejuice this Halloween, I went out right away to get my Beetlejuice costume.

I knew in a heartbeat that I’d look cool, yet funky scary with the classic black and white striped pants and jacket on my tall frame! After a long time thinking about what I should be this year, I almost gave up until one night I was watching a couple of movies at home, enjoying a night of vegging in front of the TV. One of the movie DVDs I picked from my movie collection was the Tim Burton 1988 runaway hit Beetlejuice, starring Michael Keaton. As the ending of this menacingly funny tale drew close, it hit me: Why not be Beetlejuice? That’s it! How cool to play the title role from a 20-year old movie that grossed about $80 million, returning five times its measly $13 million dollar production budget. Turns out I’m not alone – ever since 1988, kids and adults alike have been dressing up as Beetlejuice, the famous Ghost With the Most!

Beetlejuice at its core is a simple fairy tale. But it is also a visually inventive and imaginative comedy taken to a uniquely grotesque and funny level by the manic performance of Michael Keaton in the lead. Beetlejuice producer David Geffen, director Tim Burton, and composer Danny Elfman were also involved in an animated TV-series spin-off by the same name.

The Beetlejuice costume is a lot of fun. You get a striped jacket, shirt with attached vest, armband, spike choker, across-the-chest belt with a large buckle, striped pants, boot covers, and of course, a vinyl character mask in ghoulish. Not all costume packages contain these parts, but all will include the mask, striped pants and jacket, and the boot covers.

This will be a blast I’m sure! No doubt the talk of the town after Halloween trick-or-treating and my outings at various Halloween parties will be me in my Beetlejuice costume!
