Uncertainty looms over fate of schools’ budget
July 3rd, 2008 by evertdLAHORE: The Punjab Education Department (Schools) is uncertain about the fate of its upcoming budget, as it has forwarded its 11th proposal after 10 proposals got rejected, Education Department officials told Daily Times.
A source in the Education Department said the Planning and Development Department had rejected 10 proposals for the 2008-09 fiscal budget. “In the 11th proposal we have allocated Rs 9,115 million for development. Last year, the development budget was Rs 8,448 million.”
He said Rs 24 billion had been allocated for non-development work of both departments - the Higher Education and Schools. He said last year the non-development budget was Rs 21billion.
The development budget for colleges is likely to be increased by 10 percent for fiscal year 2008-09.
