Dealing With Resentment From Siblings For Families With Special Needs Children
June 29th, 2009 by hlgilesParents never mean to do this, but it can happen when one child requires care in areas that the others do not. Some special needs children may never be potty trained, or may never eat on their own. That is when the most time is spent focusing on the child with needs, and the others feel as if they are not as important. It is important to make sure they do not feel that way by making special time with them, even if it is only one parent at a time. The other children in the family may end up resenting the special needs child if they feel as if they are left out of the family. One of the best ways to keep them involved is to make them feel as if they have an important role in helping in the care of the special needs child.
