Painting your sailboats topsides with polyurethane

August 13th, 2008 by author

If you decide to paint your topsides, you’re starting a fairly big job no matter how big your boat is.

If you decide to paint the topsides yourself, you should know that you’ll spend 80% of your time preparing the hull for painting and 20% of your time actually painting. So, having spent all that time on preparation, it seems reasonable that you should use the best possible finish you can.

And 2-part polyurethane is the product to use

You do have an alternative - you can pay a professional $200-$300 per foot ($825-$1000
per metre) to do the job for you.

Up until recently two-part polyurethane was the preserve of the professionals.

But today many paint manufacturers including are producing two-part polyurethane’s that they say are suitable for application by the roller and brush method. That is, suitable for painters like you and me.

Interlux as it is known in the US, has a product called Perfection which has been produced specifically for non-professional painters using the roller and brush method of application. By all accounts painters like you and I can achieve excellent results with this product as long as we followed the directions for preparation and painting outlined in their technical bulletin

Weight Training For Bigger Legs

May 29th, 2008 by author

There are many weight trainers at any gym that tend to focus almost entirely on building up their upper bodies, neglecting leg workouts for the most part. They may follow quadricep and hamstring training routines, but don’t lift near as hard as they do for the upper body. This is what causes the cartoonish, Johnny Bravo look of having a huge upper body and skinny little legs. If you want optimal overall muscularity you need to focus on doing leg workouts with the same amount of intensity as you do for workouts involving the upper body. If you do leg workouts that include squats you’ll likely even add more size to your upper body since squatting involves so many different muscles and gives you nice testosterone boost.

Triceps Routines

May 29th, 2008 by author

It’s very important to follow a triceps weight training routine to help build bigger arms. Strengthening the triceps will also help make you stronger on chest exercises such as the bench press and shoulder exercises such as the military or dumbbell press. The triceps are a larger muscle group than the biceps, so despite the fact that most weight trainers tend to focus more on biceps workouts to build arm size because they’re easier to show off, triceps workouts will actually help you gain more overall arm size.

Compelling Benefits of Pilates

May 24th, 2008 by author

An excerpt of an article about the Compelling Benefits of Pilates

It is being widely practiced by people from all walks of life from housewivws to ballet dancers. Although it is effective for weight loss and physical improvement, it should not be considered as a cardiovascular exercise. Since Pilates is a low intensity exercise, it can be done in conjunction with aerobics and other healthy exercises. However, before taking any action, you should consult your instructor first just to be certain that you will not cause harm to yourself.

Joseph Pilates, who is a German National, is the one who invented the Pilates exercises. Mr. Pilates intentionally made these exercises for himself since he was frail, asthmatic, and sick as a child. When he was old enough, he was arrested in France and was assigned to be in charge of the medical facility of the prison. Inspired as he was, Mr. Pilates decided to use the exercises for the benefit of the sick. Also, he tried to attach springs to the beds in the hospitals which he eventually developed to be the first Pilates equipment. Not long after, Mr. Pilates moved to the U.S. and was able to open his own Pilates studio.

Bench Pressing Properly

May 7th, 2008 by author

The bench press is the staple chest exercise of most weight training routines. Nothing is better for helping you build the pectoral muscles. It’s also an easy exercise to perform properly - just make sure to keep your rear end on the bench while keeping a natural arch in your lower back. Try pulling your shoulder blades inward and downward as well so you contract your upper back muscles and pop the chest muscles out so they get targeted better while you bench press during your chest workouts.

Airsoft Gun Safety

April 29th, 2008 by author

You’ve certainly heard of this new sport called Airsoft. In this sport, participants take place in simulations of real military combat which may feature different variations and rules based on the type of simulation. As you may guess, it requires that you buy special equipment, especially to convert this sport as safe. Basic rules of Airsoft Gun Safety must be followed.

For example, regular glasses or sunglasses are simply not enough to protect your eyes from injury due to airsoft pellets or paintballs. You will need to wear special safety goggles designed for airsoft use. You should also treat your airsoft gun like it is a real gun that fires real bullets. Never point it at anyone or anything you do not intend to shoot.

Selecting The Correct Golf Club Shaft

April 24th, 2008 by author

If you are buying a set of golf clubs for your personal enjoyment, one of the biggest factors will be selecting the correct golf club shaft. The shaft of a golf club is the metal that connects the handle to the head, and effectively holds the entire golf club together. It plays a huge role in the swing of the club. Picking the right one can have a huge effect on your whole game, but there are many things to consider.

Lots of golfers find that they are fine with simply sticking to the golf club shafts that they have always had. However, if you are a better-than-average golfer and you feel that you can improve your game by buying a shaft that is more suited to you, then you will find that it can increase your enjoyment of the game (and decrease your score).

Footwork Drills For Basketball

April 18th, 2008 by author

The basketball drills can help you to develop strong legs that can execute various techniques such as rebounding, dribbling and ball control on the court. With a good footwork, you can prevent from being tripped or fell on the floor during the match.

During the game, you run, jump, bend, and walk. This requires strong legs. Usually, your coach will instruct the players to perform some flexing and warming up exercises to condition the muscles of the legs. This is a routine for every player during and after the game. As they do so, their legs will become stronger after each game.

Have You Considered Used Golf Clubs?

April 12th, 2008 by author

There are three main types of golf clubs, and these are irons, woods, and putters. By choosing the right combination of golf clubs you can be set for an entire game. However, to call them “cheap” would be an utter lie. Golf clubs are very expensive. If you are not sure whether you are going to stick with the sport or not, it is probably a good idea to start with used golf clubs or otherwise cheap golf clubs.

Imagine all of the more hardcore golfers, and what their new equipment looks like. They probably replaced some perfectly good clubs just a few months ago in order to get the new and the best clubs. Few people really need this level of commitment to buying the new golf clubs all of the time, so you don’t need to hold yourself to the same standards that they do. Buy used golf clubs - you’ll be happy you did.

The Origin of Ping Pong

April 9th, 2008 by author

The first game of ping pong was played in England during the 1880s. However, it was not played as a competitive sport but rather as a recreational activity after dinner. This game almost resembles the outdoor tennis.

The table tennis had gone through a number of changes since its inception. Today, it has became one of the international sports. Nevertheless, most of the players play for fun.

Before you can play the game, you need a paddle, a ping pong ball, and a ping pong table with the net. Having superior ball command and quick reaction give you an advantage during the play. You only need 2-4 people to start the game. But if your ping pong table has a playback feature, you can play by yourself.

Originally titled, Augusta National Invitation Tournament; the competition sought out the most accomplished players around the country. Four years after its inauguration and continued escalation of popularity, Bobby Jones reluctantly agreed to change the name of the competition to its current title, The Masters, or US Masters as it is referred to outside of the United States.

The first tournament was played on a 365 acre course in Augusta, Georgia, originally farm land covered with flowering plants and trees until purchased by Bobby Jones in 1931. Since its inception, the Augusta National Golf Course, often referred to as the envy of all golf courses, has been home to the Masters Golf Tournament. The event is always held during the first full week of April each year. In all history of the Masters Golf Tournament, it has been held for a consecutive 72 years, not including the 3 years that the competition was cancelled due to World War II.

They carry extensive stocks of Ducati clothing and apparel. They can either deliver all the clothing and apparel you see on this site from stock, (look for “Yes” in the “Sizes in stock” panel on the product page) - or they can get it to you in between 10 and 14 days (where the item is identified as “OOS”).

This really good as some of the ducai gear is hard to find. The site has just been launched and with the rate of the current us dollar its really great value for money. I say buy this stuff now while there is an introductory price.
