Personalized Bowling Shirts

December 11th, 2008 by author

Bowlers are often compared (unfairly, in my opinion) to golfers in terms of their lack of fashion sense. While I can understand how some people might not be fond of polyester bowling shirts, I don’t think they’re nearly as bad as some of the outrageous outfits I’ve seen on the golf course. At least bowlers don’t go around wearing plaid pants that look like they were picked out by my colorblind grandmother!

Well, since I’m a bowler myself, I admit to being a bit biased here — especially since I’ve been in charge of ordering my team’s bowling shirts for the past five years. I always try to get something different each year, and I make sure that I order classic designs that would look good both on and off the lanes. Plus, I’ve been trying to purchase my bowling shirts from different online vendors so I can get a better idea of which websites offer the best quality products at the lowest prices.

Learn The Theory Behind Golf Club Impact Position To Improve Your Shots

December 11th, 2008 by author

The swing plane is an important part of how you impact the ball. The swing plane is the angle at which the club travels through the swing. You want to make sure that your swing plane when going through the ball is parallel or close to parallel with your shaft position when you first address the ball. This will increase your chances of hitting the ball well. The impact point is a position on the swing path. However, the impact is the result that matters, although it is not what you should be thinking about when swinging. If you think more about where you going in the swing than the actual impact. If you get the swing position and plane right then your golf ball impact position will be good. The best impact position is slightly higher than the address position. This will give your ball the best flight through the air.

Don’t forget to pay attention to course golf rules

December 4th, 2008 by author

The regular rules of golf are always in effect at any golf course, but many courses will have course golf rules, known as local rules, that may override a traditional golf rule or may place additional rule requirements on your round of golf. Course golf rules don’t apply only to rules of play, but may also dictate rules of behavior for on the grounds of the golf course.

Don’t forget to pay attention to course golf rules

December 4th, 2008 by author

Following are a few more examples of some course golf rules you may encounter during your next trip to the golf course:

• Some golf courses may have seasonal rules in effect. For example, a common local winter golf rule is that you are allowed to “play the ball up.” This means that if you have a bare lie in the fairway, you can move your ball to improve your lie.
• Pay close attention to areas under construction or restricted areas on the golf course. These areas should be marked in some manner, and you are allowed a free drop if your ball has ended up in one of these areas or against a stake or rope marking the area.
• During wet weather, or times when the grass is sensitive, many golf courses will ask you to keep your golf cart on the cart path at all times. You will need to take a few clubs with you when going to hit your ball so that you can select the correct club and avoid costing time by running back to the cart for a different club.

4 Wheeler Tires

December 2nd, 2008 by author

More than the conventional vehicle, the tires of a four-wheeler live a rugged life that would destroy the tires of your ordinary family car or truck. Of course, on any vehicle, the tires are the part of the car that are under the greatest stress and the ones that you depend on the most. It is bad if your engine fails or your vehicle lets you down and you have to have it towed. But if your tires let you down and it happens while you are driving, that is more than just an inconvenience, it can be a very dangerous moment.

Of all the parts of your ATV, the tires take the most punishment. They are quite literally the heart of what carries you over rough terrain and keeps you safe. But an ATV tire has to be prepared for just about any kind of obstacle that it comes across. When you are off road in your four-wheeler, you expect that vehicle to run over fallen trees, ditches in the road, underbrush, any litter that is underfoot and do so on uneven terrain and at different grades and to keep you moving without interruption.

How To Find Good Fishing Lakes

December 1st, 2008 by author

We like to remember things that we liked with rose tinted glasses so I don’t know if my memory is distorted by time, but it seems to me that there were many more fishing lakes when I was a kid than there are now. I don’t remember having to plan out lake fishing trips. I know that my father and my grandfather handled the details, but I can’t help but think that it was simply a matter of packing up the fishing tackle, heading out to the lake, and going to work. Our fishing trips were always pretty spontaneous and impromptu, and we went lake fishing all over the state of Michigan.
Don’t get me wrong, like at the present time there were some fishing lakes that were better than others. Lake Michigan fishing, for example, was always some of the best, but you had to know what you were doing. You needed excellent fishing equipment and a good deal of strength. I remember that my dad would always have to help me reel in the bigger catches for fear of me losing my fishing rod.

The perfect golf swing is achievable

November 30th, 2008 by author

The foundation of a perfect golf swing starts with your grip and stance. You want balance when it comes to your golf swing, and this begins with a solid stance. Your feet should be a little more than shoulder’s width apart. Your grip should be comfortable and not too tight. One sign that you may be gripping your golf club too tightly is if your hands begin to ache during your round or after you have finished playing.

Horse Racing

November 17th, 2008 by author

I first got into horse racing through the poetry of Charles Bukowski. You see, growing up, horse races were far removed from my experience. My dad was not a macho guy. He didn’t drink, he did not go to the horse races, he never bet, and he usually went to bed pretty early. Needless to say, horse betting was out of his zone of experience, and he wouldn’t have approved of it if he knew that I was interested in it. As a matter of fact, I really wasn’t interested in horse racing at first. Seeing horse races on TV kind of bored me, and I usually would change the channel. That all changed when I picked up some Bukowski.
Horse racing was Charles Bukowski’s central passion – that is besides alcohol.

Buying Baseball Jerseys

November 10th, 2008 by author

If you are looking to save money when buying baseball jerseys, your best bet may be to purchase online. Ebay may have some great deals for you, though some of them may have already been worn. Of course, some ebay stores are selling brand new baseball jerseys and you’ll still end up spending quite a bit of money plus shipping. Buying directly from sport sites can cost you even more money than the stores or ebay. If you want to pay the most money however, buy them in the baseball stadium if you manage to get to a game. For the amount of money that you’ll spend there, you’d expect them to all be autographed or have been worn by the players.

Custom Bowling Shirts Enhance the Game of Bowling

November 6th, 2008 by author

Not only can wearing custom bowling shirts help to enhance the fun and enjoyment of bowling, they may be able to play a part to keep the game safe! What do I mean? Well, just check out the my new post about new custom bowling shirts and you’ll see a video of two otherwise innocent looking bowlers turning the game into something very un-bowling like! One goes on the attack of the other as though she’s in a hockey game! A personalized, customized bowling shirt could help prevent this from happening if the shirt had a message on the back, either embroidered or a sewn-on patch: “Keep Bowling Safe - No Body Checking During the Game!”.

In that post, you’ll read about bowling shirts as a fashion statement, what attributes all the top quality bowling apparel shopping websites have, and how wearing a custom team-centered bowling shirt can help improve your own bowling score or the overall score of your team.

While you’re there, you can browse around and have a good laugh with any of the hundreds of posts on this funny videos website. But the article I mention above about custom bowling shirts will give you a great taste of what you’ll find there!

The “Bugeye” Sprite - A British Classic Sportscar

October 26th, 2008 by author

Dennis Healey designed the “bugeye” Sprite in the mid 1950’s. It was called the “frogeye” Sprite in the UK. 48,978 cars were built by the British Motor Corporation from 1958 to 1961. The original Sprite design was for a low-cost sports car to be the successor of the highly modified Austin 7’s that were raced in Britain and Europe at the time. The cost was kept down by BMC when they used many parts from the Austin and Morris cars they made. The Sprite was released just prior to the Monarco Grand Prix in 1958.

The Mark I Sprite had no separate chassis. It was the first sports car to use integrated construction, whereby the metal skin panels of the body carry the loads normally carried by the chassis. To keep the costs down there were no outside handles on the doors and no trunk lid. The spare wheel was stored under the rear deck, and to get it out the seats needed to be tilted forward.

The famous “Bugeye” look, with the headlights standing on the front of the bonnet was not intended. The original design was for these lights to swing down into a recess when turned off. Because of the need to cut costs, this tilt mechanism was deleted and the unique “bugeye” look was born. Would the car have enjoyed such cult status if the “bugeye” look had not prevailed?

A slightly improved version of the 948cc Austin A35 engine was fitted to the first Sprite. It produced just 43bhp with two 1 1/8” SU carburetors. The rear suspension was by quarter-elliptic leaf springs and lever-arm shockers. The leaf springs also acted as locators for the rear axle. The front suspension of wishbones and coil springs came from the Austin A35, as did the rack and pinion steering.

The first Sprite was entered in many major rallies and races and competed quite successfully. Many private owners took advantage of the fact that the car was relatively cheap and easy to modify and raced the car extensively and successfully. There were many exotic special models produced by private firms, the Sebring Sprite being one of the better known. An original model could reach 83 mph and accelerate to 60 mph in 20.5 seconds. Sprites are still raced by enthusiastic owners all around the world.

Coarse fishing is an activity that a lot of people love and many anglers have in fact even been fishing from their early days – perhaps because their families too were avid coarse fishermen. The Austin Healey 100-4 - a Classic Sportscar

October 23rd, 2008 by author

The “100″ name comes from the famed designer Donald Healey, who named it after the fact that this was one of the few cars of the era which could maintain 100 mph (160 km/h). The Austin-Healey 100-4 built between 1953 and 1956 by Jensen Motors for the British Motor Corporation.

Get The Right Hunting Clothes First

October 15th, 2008 by author

Were it not for the sharp eyes of a turkey, one could probably go without patterned hunting clothes and instead hunt in the clothes they wear everyday. As many hunters will agree, the joy of hunting is in the hunt itself and that means blending in with the surroundings. Even the animals themselves are naturally camouflaged to blend in with their environment. Wearing camouflage in a pattern that mimics the surrounding area is one way to seemingly diminish a hunter’s presence in the quarry’s environment. In the long run, good hunting clothes are an element that can make a hunt satisfyingly intense.

Winterizing your sailboat yourself - a checklist

October 12th, 2008 by author

Before you start winterizing your sailboat, you need to make some important decisions. How and where are you going to store the boat? If you intend to haul the boat out of the water, where are you going to store it? if you have to leave the boat in the water you need to get good local information about the severity of the ice formation and how best to combat it. You’ll also have to arrange for regular inspections of the boat during the coldest months.

No matter where or how you store your boat, you’ll need to cover it and protect it from the elements. If cost is no object you can shrink wrap the boat. Tarpaulins don’t cost as much as shrink wrapping, but you’ll need to make more frequent inspections. You should unstep the mast no matter how you protect the boat. The mast can form a support for tarpaulins. I the boat is left in the water, unstepping the mast reduces windage and strain on the rigging.

Your motor needs special attention during the winterization process. It can be severely damaged by water freezing inside the water jacket. All water must be drained from the motor and replaced with eco-friendly anti-freeze. The fresh water pumps and lines also need to be drained and the head needs to be drained and filled with anti-freeze. The batteries need to be taken off the boat and stored in a cool dry place.

The sailing web site sailingmates has a checklist on how to winterize your sailboat. Here is part one of the checklist

Finding the Best Rock Climbing Equipment

September 20th, 2008 by author

A rope is a key piece of rock climbing equipment for safety, and usually consists of braided nylon fibers enclosed in a nylon sheath. These ropes are just a tad stretchy, to safely catch falling climbers. Yes, climbers slip on occasion, but the gear is designed to keep them safe from those mishaps! I use my rope more than anything else in my gear bag, so I’m glad I bought a quality one the first time through.

To hold your rope, you need carabiners, which are aluminum rings that open with a spring clasp. It is best to use two carabiners at a time, going in opposite directions, to cut down on the chance that the ring will accidentally open on its own. I have a number of these rings that help to secure my rope in all conditions.

Where to purchase rugby tickets

September 9th, 2008 by author

Union is a game played outside on an oval field with fifteen players to a side. It is a form of contact sport and each side attempts to make a goal by throwing and kicking the football behind the team’s goal post. The opposing team must impede this aim. This game has become a popular spectator game and Lions tickets are regularly wanted.

Rugby union has developed into an world game, with countries across the world developing national teams. The game has gained particular fame and esteem in countries such as England, Australia, Wales, France and New Zealand. With the increasing internationalization of the game, there is a growing focus on worldwide games where nations play against each other for the honor of being the top in the world. These worldwide games - and the Lions tickets - draw a global audience.

The precise beginnings of rugby union are unknown, although games involving kicking and throwing a football would have been known for some time. The rules of rugby union, however, were first laid down in the English town of Rugby in 1845. Although the game was codified so that rules governed its play, rugby union players supported the principle of amateurism. Where different sports built up the professionalism of the game with team members who played the game for a living; rugby union did not become a ‘professional’ game until 1995. Although an ‘amateur’ sport until 1995, Lions tickets have been sold for as long as the game has been in existence.

The worldwide games are perhaps one of the most highly regarded modes of games in rugby union and the enormous numbers of Lions tickets bought are a testament to that. There are three known worldwide games: the Tri Nations series, which is played by Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in the southern hemisphere; the Six Nations Championship, played by England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy and the Rugby World Cup, the only truly global rugby union competiton.

Each year, greater and greater Lions tickets are sold throughout the globe as global games become ever more popular. The earliest worldwide game in rugby union history was the so-called “Home Nations” games that began in 1883 with England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Gradually, this became the Five Nations Championship with the addition of France in 1910 and then the Six Nations Championship with the addition of Italy in 2000. The southern hemisphere version is the Tri Nations Series, which has its start in the informal games between Australia and New Zealand, which began in 1903. South Africa toured both nations in 1921 but the informal games did not become a official worldwide match until 1996.

The Six Nations Championship has been surpassed by the Rugby World Cup as the premier worldwide game, from its beginning game in 1987. Although a belated development on the worldwide rugby union scene, more than two million rugby tickets were sold in 2007, which easily competes with the amount of Lions tickets purchased for other global games.

The format of the worldwide games varies between every event. Both the Six Nations Championship and Tri Nations Series are held yearly and Lions tickets sell out quickly. However, where in the Six Nations Championship each side plays every other side once; in the Tri Nations each side plays the other three times, with the overall champion decided on a points system. The Rugby World Cup is held every four years and the twenty involved countries go through two stages: a group and a knock-out. The next Cup for which rugby tickets will be sold is in 2011, when the World Cup will be hosted by New Zealand.

Six Nation rugby tickets make excellent gifts for any rugby fan of your acquaintance. Lions tickets can be purchased for any budget and it is a game appropriate for all ages and is a great way for a family to spend time with each other. Even friends who don’t usually follow rugby union find themselves enjoying the game if they’ve been given Lions tickets - it’s never long before the liveliness of the spectators and the exhilaration of a live game gets them hooked!

Lions tickets are sold by many companies. Lions tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and all ticket buyers are given a seat allocation. The simplest way to acquire Lions tickets is on the internet and prices vary depending on where the ticket-holder’s seat in the stadium will be. For worldwide games, Lions tickets can sell very quickly so it is always advised to get in and purchase them as soon as possible.

New rigging for older sailboats

August 22nd, 2008 by author

When buying a used sailboat you’ll probably get a boat that’s a few years old - and the halyards, sheets and braces will probably look a little old, dirty and frayed.

And you’ll probablywant to replace this old stuff with some of the new high tech, low stretch marine line .

But think carefully before you buy any high tech replacement running rigging.

Generally it’s much better to stay with the more traditional line for the running rigging of older boats.

In the US, Sampson, New England Ropes and Yale all make a double braid dacron line very suitable for almost all the running rigging on an older sailboat.

Sailingmates is the website for sailboat maintenance advice and you can find the article here on running rigging for sailboats
