Many Ways Of Getting a Story Published

November 20th, 2008 by author

Any writer will tell you how thrilling it is to see your name on a byline with your first published piece. They’ll also usually tell you it took quite a while to get that big thrill. Writers are not known for their marketing skills. You may be a terrific writer, but if you don’t market your skills, it’s pretty slow going. Once you know how to go about getting a story published, it can happen fast! If you’re just starting out in your writing career, here are some pointers on the fast track to getting published. You finished your story. You revised and nitpicked until it screams perfection. After a final proofreading, you submitted your work to that well known national magazine. You’re prepared to wait a few months for a reply.
What’s wrong with this scenario? Although you followed the standard protocol, your chances of getting a story published in this magazine are probably not good. Don’t get me wrong, this does not necessarily reflect on the quality of your work. It could be that the editor is simply not interested in your topic at this time. You may not even receive a rejection notice. Worse yet, you sit and wait, wasting time and other, better opportunities.

A lot of people presume that custom computers are less inexpensive than other systems, but this is not usually the case. You see, as a company like Dell or IBM has the name recognition to charge a lot of money for a new computer, most custom built computers are made by small companies trying to get as many customers as they can just to make ends meet. This means that you can acquire some great deals on custom-built desktop computers if you are willing to trust small businesses over the big PC factories. There are unquestionably advantages and disadvantages to getting your computer custom made, so you should consider both the pros and the cons.

Get your songwriting muse going

The Magic behind writing hit songs.
The one thing that all great songs have in common is the ease with which they were written.
Song writer and guitarist Eric Clapton says of the song Wonderful tonight, that it just fell into place, as if the song wrote itself.
A common factor to the memorable evergreens lies in the chord progressions that are used and, more specifically, the bass lines accompanying those chord changes.

Every aspiring songwriter should pay close attention to such greats as “Yesterday”, by the Beatles,
and listen to all the classics as much as possible.
Apart from studying their chord structures, just listening to something a lot can have a very positive effect on ones own style of writing. Music has a great tendency to rub off on one.

I’m sure you remember that very popular band “Roxette”. Well, a lot of their songs had a familiarity to them, mostly because they shared a similarity with other previously written great pop songs.
They where never exactly the same, but little snippets of the melody lines would mimic already famous songs of yesteryear.
The chord progressions where simple yet effective.

The song writing tips I would give you is to allow your creativity to flow by constantly writing songs, and as far as possible to just let what wants to happen with the song, happen.
The other, is to listen to more music that’s popular.
Whatever happens, don’t feel obliged to finish writing a song on the same day you start it.
Let your subconscious work on it for a few days if it has to.
Some songs I’ve only finished writing two years later.
Above all, have fun with it.
