If you have an alternate route for computer problems, take it

August 19th, 2008 by author

Trusted friends can often fix computer problems without a lot of hassle and wasted money.

Remember that if you have a friend who knows how to fix computers you can save a lot of money that way, however, make sure they know what they’re doing before you allow them to touch your computer. This type of computer help is no help at all if they do more damage.
I have had many people try to help me with my computer only to mess it up more. That meant that the computer help I had to get after their bumbling ended up costing me even more. Make sure someone is qualified before you ask them for computer help.

Retail Computer Stores

August 10th, 2008 by author

When I first went looking for computers for sale, I decided to avoid retail computer stores altogether. When my computer arrived, I congratulated myself on avoiding going to the retail computer stores.I had a pretty high-end machine that was a whole lot cheaper than anything that I would have gotten at a Best Buy store.

It was made with off-brand products, so it cost a whole lot less than if I had made the mistake of buying a Dell, Compaq, or some other name-brand computer. Everything was great with that machine until I ran into trouble. The computer manufacturer had given me a quality guarantee, but the problem was that he was located across the country from me.

Computer Help

August 1st, 2008 by author

Most of the time computer help over the phone is free although this differs from company to company. Some companies will offer computer help for free no matter what, but others will only help you if you are still under warranty. This is information you may not know until you actually call for help, so it may be wise to keep your warranty information with you, or pay for an extended service deal if it is offered to you. If something is wrong with your Internet connection or with your web browser, your Internet service provider should be able to help you for free.

Remember that if you have a friend who knows how to fix computers you can save a lot of money that way, however, make sure they know what they’re doing before you allow them to touch your computer. This type of computer help is no help at all if they do more damage.

Notebook - Hard Drive Data Recovery

June 20th, 2008 by author

Recovering lost data from a laptop or notebook is a specialist task that should be carried out by a data recovery expert. If the hard drive needs an internal examination, or repair work, because of a suspect physical failure problem it is vital that the work should be carried out under the right environmental conditions. Hard drive data recovery from a notebook requires specialist tools and clean room facilities in order to avoid dust particle contamination that might cause further damage. The components of a laptop or notebook are much smaller than a desktop or server hard drive and as such, the working clearances are much closer.

Choosing the Best Adware and Spyware Software

June 5th, 2008 by author

You won’t have to look very hard to find free antispyware software downloads on the internet. You probably get offers for them everyday that are caught by the spam filter on your email. It is a good idea to do some research before you install any of these free offers on your computer, as they can actually be spyware programs in disguise. Always take the time to validate the effectiveness of any PC security software of computer firewalls that you are going to activate on your computer.

Whether you choose a free or purchased antispyware program, there a few things you should look for to determine whether the program will meet your needs. The most important features are functionality and effectiveness. You want a program that will consistently monitor your system as an antivirus program does, blocking the majority of spyware from ever entering your system. The program should also give you the option of allowing or blocking suspected files, since no program can be 100% accurate in its determination of what is actually a spyware file.

People Search

Using the Internet to Search Criminal Records

Anyone who has spent much time online can tell you just how much information is available on the internet. The web is home to a host of different databases, record sets and forms, ranging from very serious subjects to very frivolous ones. One of the more serious uses to which the internet can be put is finding information on criminal records.

There are of course a number of reasons why a business, or even an individual, would want to conduct a search of criminal records, and the growing availability of these records online has made this kind of research a great deal easier than before. Where once a search of criminal records would have required sorting through enormous stacks of paper files, these days these record databases can be scanned in a matter of minutes.

One of the most important reasons individuals have for scanning criminal records is to be sure that those they hire to take care of their children are honest and trustworthy. We have all heard the stories in which in individual with an extensive criminal background ended up teaching, babysitting or otherwise working with children. Searching criminal records prior to hiring such a caregiver can provide parents with much needed peace of mind, while at the same time helping them to keep themselves and their families safe.

Employers also regularly make use of these criminal records in order to avoid making serious and potentially dangerous mistakes when hiring new staff members. Even though most job applications already include a question which asks applicants to list past criminal convictions, many job applicants will attempt to hide their criminal past. Checking criminal records provides hiring managers, human resources directors and business owners with a fast, easy and reliable way to ferret out these dishonest individuals while providing much needed protection for their other workers.

Those working in government may also make use of various criminal records during the course of their work. Government agencies often need to compile statistics on such legal issues as crime rates, incarceration rates, recidivisms rates and other such matters. Scanning the many criminal records available online can provide these workers with the data they need to prepare these reports. These government reports can in turn be used for a number of different purposes, including preparing funding requests, justifying new jail or courthouse construction and hiring new law enforcement personnel.

There are a number of places where these individuals and businesses can find these important criminal records, including the web sites of county courthouses and state government. Many state government agencies will provide access or links to various kinds of legal information, including arrest records and courthouse records. In addition, as more and more county courthouses place their records in digital format, their web sites may be able to provide a great deal of information as well.

No matter where you get these criminal records, however, it is important to gather as much information as possible prior to the search. Having such information as name, Social Security number, last known address, court dates, etc. can help make the search a great deal easier and less of a hassle.

Basics Of Choosing a New Video Camera

May 17th, 2008 by author

Most digital camcorders store your video on miniature tape cassettes or DVDs, but others record onto an internal hard drive or removable flash-memory cards similar to those you’d use in a digital camera. A few models combine two storage options, such as a hard drive and DVD or memory card, for added flexibility. Most of the video cameras available today are digital, and that is a very good thing. Though analogue has worked well for some time, they do not have the quality that digital has, and they lose quality as they are transferred from source to computer. When choosing a new video camera, go for a digital video camera - you have more options for saving your footage.

The Ink Jet Printer

May 9th, 2008 by author

What is an Inkjet printer?

Inkjet printers spray very small, precise amounts (usually a few picolitres ) of ink onto the media. These droplets of ink will carry a slight electrical charge. Inkjet printers and laser printers are the most popular printer types for home and business use. Dot matrix printer was popular in 70’s and 80’s but has been gradually replaced by inkjet printers for home use.

Inkjet printing has gained wide acceptance by consumers in the printing industry because it is fast in printing speed and is a relatively inexpensive form of printing and yet it produces high resolution printed images. The dot matrix printer is an impact type of printer in which each character or segment of a graphical image is comprised of a matrix of dots and blanks which together define the character.

Although Inkjets produce a much nicer and faster product than the older Dot Matrix, they are more costly to operate because of the price of ink refill and printer cartridges.

How To Choose The Right Digital Camera For You And Make Sure You Get The Best Price

May 8th, 2008 by author

A good place to start is to check out digital cameras at your local store. Take a pencil and paper with you to make some notes. Don’t worry about asking lots of questions, that’s what the sales people are there for. I suggest if you are worried about being talked into a purchase you leave you money at home. One thing you can get from visiting a store, that not available online or in a catalogue is the feel, size and weight. Make notes on the models that feel comfortable - you can always find their size and weight at an internet reviews site or from the digital camera manufacturers home page.

Podcast Directories

April 30th, 2008 by author

When it comes to podcast, one of the problems that emerges is where to find them. In fact, it’s so easy for anyone to build one that they are very disperse; you can find them anywhere. So, directories of podcast are very necessary, because it seems that while search engines are very good at indexing text, and html, they are not very well conceived when it comes to medias, especially podcasts. Search engines can help to find this directories; when you make a search in Google, or Yahoo or whatever search engine you like, you’ll be surprised by the number and quality of podcast directories you can find. So go ahead and search for “Podcast Directory”.

By the way, if you to know how to setup your own podcast, do not forget to come and have a look at our Podcasting section @ Internet Web Experts.

Business Intelligence and Reporting

April 29th, 2008 by author

The company I work at had been shopping around for an integrated business intelligence and performance management application, and eventually decided to go with Actuate. Actuate is a mid-sized company that competes in the business intelligence and reporting industry and is located in the San Francisco bay area. They offered us a pretty extensive business intelligence suite with a pixel perfect reporting tool, a spreadsheet (excel) product, performance management suite and a metadata tool. We eventually decided to go with them because of the superb integration between all reporting tools and because the spreadsheet product solved a lot our compliance issues. We’ve had the implementation running for over year now, and have been pleased with the results.
