Technologies involved in Dense Media Separation (DMS)

October 27th, 2008 by fcoetsee

Through the processes of natural size reduction (crushing) and grinding, the liberation of individual materials in an ore feed or rock can take place. Individual separation of these materials then follows. Different technologies can be applied during the separation process. The specific technology being used depends on the behaviour of the materials. Some of these technologies include:
• Separation by Gravity.
• Separation in Water.
• Separation by Jigs
• Separation by Spiral Concentrators
• Separation by Shaking Tables
• Magnetic Separation
